The 4th of July celebration will feature a collection of events which includes corresponding radio shows on the island’s local station, Radio Hatteras FM 101.5 and 99.9, and an incredible front row view of the fireworks display from the pristine Cape Hatteras National Seashore beaches.

 

Town of Duck Annual 4th of July Parade

Friday, July 4, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.

Our full summer event schedule is complete with the Town of Duck’s 4th of July Parade and Community Celebration! The annual one-mile parade route begins at the crest of the hill on Scarborough Lane, travels east towards the ocean, turns left onto Ocean Way, and then continues onto Christopher Drive to end at Pamela Court. Please note: No part of the parade will take place on Duck Road.

 

Hatteras Village Golf Cart Parade and Community Cookout

Hatteras Village free Community Cookout, Village Center, July 4 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The 11th Annual Golf Cart Parade on Hatteras is a must.  What began with a meager 8 carts years ago has grown into a spectacular event!  Come and see the carts decked out in all the Americana that can be mustered or deck one out yourself and join the fun. Whichever, you’re sure to enjoy this free, fun-filled, family friendly 4th of July event! Anyone can participate and with a little decorating imagination, the carts sport themes from patriotic to the ridiculous.  The parade is fun for participants and viewers alike. Participants will need to be at Teach’s Lair Marina by 5:45 on July 4th to line up. Route begins at Teach’s, through the village. The parade will head down Hwy. 12, through the village and cut down Eagle Pass to complete the route. Winners will be announced at the cookout in the village center at 7:00! Please join us for this free event!

Hatteras Village free Community Cookout for residents and visitors at the Village Center. Come by for burgers and dogs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Free for all residents and visitors!  Pick up and go or find a spot to sit and watch the parade.  For more information visit Hatteras Village Facebook page.

 

Kill Devil Hills Fireworks Show

July 4 at 9:15 p.m.

Visitors can keep the Independence Day celebration going strong with this special fireworks display in the heart of the central Outer Banks that’s sponsored by the Town of Kill Devil Hills, and which is held at the scenic Avalon Pier. The Avalon Pier is located at Milepost 7, and while visitors won’t be able to watch the show from the pier itself, the wide and surrounding beaches are ideal for pulling up a chair and enjoying the show. The public is welcome to bring a chair, blanket, or beach towel and find a spot, and should note that parking may be limited, so an early arrival may be key. A rain date will be set in case of inclement weather, and town parking is free to the public, with multiple beach access points throughout the town, and walking-distance close to the oceanfront. (Visitors will want to arrive early to secure a spot.)

 

Independence Day at Island Farm

Celebrate Independence Day, 1850’s style with Island Farm! On Friday, July 4, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., the Farm will host visitors to celebrate the holiday. Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the Farm’s grassy lawn, and celebrate the nation’s birth with musket-fire, traditional games, and a reading of the Declaration of Independence.

A living history farmstead, Island Farm is a tangible glimpse into coastal history, and life on Roanoke Island in the mid-1800’s. Admission to the site is $11, and children 3 and under are admitted for free. The site is located at 1140 N US Highway 64, north of Manteo on Roanoke Island. Island Farm is owned and operated by the 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization, Outer Banks Conservationists (OBC).To learn more, visit www.obcinc.org.

 

 Manteo 4th of July Celebration

July 4, celebration begins at 4 p.m.

George Washington Creef Park, downtown waterfront

Celebrate Independence Day in true small-town style at the Town of Manteo’s Fourth of July festivities, held at George Washington Creef Park along the downtown waterfront. The celebration begins at 4 p.m. with the singing of the National Anthem and continues through dusk, ending with a spectacular fireworks display over the water. Families will enjoy an afternoon filled with free kids’ games and activities, a decorated bike parade (trikes, scooters, and wagons welcome), and the always popular apple pie contest hosted in partnership with NC Cooperative Extension.

  • Bike parade participants can meet at the stage by 4 p.m., and prizes will be awarded for First, Second, and Third Place entries.
  • For the apple pie contest, entries will be accepted between 3:30 and 4 p.m., with winners announced at 5:30 p.m. Categories include Overall Best in Show, as well as First, Second, and Third Place in both the Junior Baker Division (17 & under) and Adult Division (18 & up), with cash prizes awarded.
  • Live music from The Deloreans, an energetic 80s show band, will take place from 5:30 to 9:00 PM. A variety of food trucks will be on site, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets to relax and enjoy the show.
  • Fireworks begin at dusk and are presented by the Town of Manteo with support from the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau.

Please note that portions of Queen Elizabeth Avenue and Fernando Street will be closed during the event, and parking will not be available at the Weather Tower Parking Lot or along Fernando Street. Free parking and shuttle service will be available from the College of the Albemarle and Manteo Elementary School. Don’t miss this fun and festive evening in downtown Manteo!

Let’s meet in the Town of Manteo for the 4th of July! Festivities start downtown then grab your beach chairs and blankets for our free 4th of July concert featuring Divergent Soundz! Gates open at 6 p.m., music starts at 7:45 p.m. Enjoy snacks from a local food truck or bring in food, get limited edition 4th of July gear at the Museum Shop, and watch the town’s fireworks from the lawn after darkThey will return in August to open for Kool & the Gang for the August Live from OBX Summer concert series.  Manteo is the place to be on the 4th of July!

 

Nags Head Fireworks Spectacular

July 4, at 9:25 p.m.

In conjunction with the Nags Head Fishing Pier and the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau, we’re hosting a fireworks spectacular on July 4, 2025, at 9:25 p.m. on Nags Head Pier at Mile Post 11.5 on South Virginia Dare Trail.

A rain date has been set for Saturday, July 5. The fireworks display will last approximately 25 minutes.

Parking at and near the fireworks display site will be directed by the Nags Head Police Department. Those attending the show are encouraged to park east of U.S. Highway 158/South Croatan Highway and use designated crosswalks. Those choosing to park west of U.S. Highway 158/South Croatan Highway should use extreme caution while attempting to cross this heavily traveled roadway and use designated crosswalks.

There is no parking on NC12/South Virginia Dare Trail and no parking, even temporarily, on any part of the multi-use path.  All persons attending this event are reminded not to use or block private driveways. Vehicles blocking driveways or presenting a traffic hazard before, during, or immediately following this event will be towed.

The Town of Nags Head requests that persons use the public beach accesses as pathways to the oceanfront. Please stay off the environmentally sensitive dune and do not use the private property of others, such as private gazebos or decks, to view the fireworks without the property owner’s permission.

The following public beach accesses are recommended for access to the beach for fireworks viewing:

  • South of Nags Head Fishing Pier

  • Hollowell Street
  • Conch Street

North of Nags Head Fishing Pier

  • Bladen Street

Currituck Independence Day Celebration

July 4th, 2025

5:00pm – 9:00pm (or at the conclusion of the fireworks show)

What better way to celebrate America’s independence than with free live music and a spectacular firework show on the northern Outer Banks! The Currituck County Department of Travel & Tourism invites you to Historic Corolla Park for our annual Independence Day Celebration! Activities begin at 5:00 p.m. and conclude with the largest fireworks show on the Outer Banks at dusk. Admission is free and free parking is available at the park until our lots are full. Enjoy incredible live music, fun family activities and more! Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase by local vendors. (Please note that no coolers, alcohol or on-street parking are permitted in the park.) The Historic Corolla Park boat ramp and Air Up Station will be closed from 3 p.m. on July 3rd until 7 a.m. July 5th.  No boat docking will be allowed.  Only leashed dogs are permitted. However, due to the noise from the fireworks, dogs are not recommended at this event.

Parking:
Free onsite parking for this event will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Historic Corolla Park and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. With record crowds this summer on the Northern Outer Banks and with many visitors expected to attend, please note that our dedicated onsite parking spaces are expected to fill up early. Please plan accordingly.

 

 

 

Ocracoke Island Independence Day Celebration 

July 2-4, 2025

The following is the schedule of activities:

Wednesday, July 2

  • 7 pm: Pre-fireworks gathering: Ocracoke Island deejay with Tommy Hutcherson will spin dance tunes and patriotic songs at the NPS docks.
  • 9:15 pm: Fireworks by Pyrotecnico will be launched from the large National Park Service parking area at the southern end of the island. Sponsored by Hyde County. The NPS parking lot will be closed all day July 2 while the fireworks company sets up.

Thursday, July 3

  • 4 p.m. Fundraising Fish Fry for the OPS. Island Inn Commons
  • 7-8:30 p.m. Old fashioned Ocracoke square dance in the Berkley Barn with Molasses Creek. $5 for those 13 and over.

Friday, July 4:

Sand Sculpture Contest (credit visitocracoke.com)

9:30 am–Noon: Sand Sculpture Contest at the NPS Lifeguard Beach. Sign-up starts at 9 am.

  • 10:30 am to 12:30 pm and 1:30 to 4 pm: Ocracoke Lighthouse open.
  • 4 pm: Independence Day Parade. No theme this year. All are welcome to enter the parade to vie for best in show, walk & roll, best wheels, best float and best theme. Sign-up starts at 3 pm.  Line-up starts at 3:30 pm.  Parade starts at Old Beach Road and ends at NPS. No throwing water, no political themes.
  • 5:30 pm: Awards presentation for Parade and Sculpture contest winners at Books to Be red yard.BYO seating.
  • 6 pm: Fundraising cookout at the United Methodist Church.
  • 7 to 10 pm: Community Beach Fire under the stars at Ocracoke Day Use Area/NPS Lifeguard Beach. BYO beach blankets, chairs, marshmallows and roasting sticks. Please pack in and Pack out.

Independence Day activities are sponsored by the Ocracoke Occupancy Tax Board, Hyde County and the Ocracoke Civic & Business Association.

 

Edenton, NC:

Edenton is planning a week-long Independence Day celebration from Monday, June 30 – Sunday, July 6, 2025, with a full day of activities on Friday, July 4th.

  • All Day Activities Downtown (July 4th):
    • Free 1767 Courthouse Tours1
    • Car Show on South Broad
    • Declaration of Independence Reading: A 25+ year tradition on the Courthouse Green, starting at 10:00 AM.
    • Golf Cart & Bike Parade: Lineup at Court Street parking lot behind the 1767 Courthouse (117 E King St), parade starts at 11:00 AM.
    • Albemarle Queen Open House & Tours Available
    • Food Trucks & Vendors
    • Militia Muster & Musket Firing: At 3:00 PM.
    • Optimist Club Festival Activities
    • Colonial Park Activities (starting at 4:00 PM): Train rides, food trucks, local vendors, DJ, family-friendly games (including watermelon fun!), Penny Hunt (new this year!) at 7:00 PM.
  • Fireworks Cruise: Albemarle Queen: 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM.
  • Fireworks Over Edenton Bay: Begins at dusk over the Edenton Waterfront.2

Other activities throughout the week include a Historic Edenton Scavenger Hunt, regularly scheduled tours, decorate a watermelon contest, USA themed trivia, Pembroke Creek Paddle, and Edenton Steamers Baseball Games.3

 

Plymouth, NC:

Plymouth celebrates with a full day of events, though specifics for 2025 are less detailed than Edenton. You can expect:

  • 5K Road Race:
  • Annual 4th of July Parade: Through historic Downtown Plymouth.
  • Food Trucks: On the Plymouth Waterfront, from parade start until fireworks conclude.4
  • Free Seaside Concert: By the Plymouth “Phil” Philharmonic orchestra, at 7:30 PM at DCR Pilgrim Memorial State Park.5
  • Fireworks Display: Over Plymouth Harbor, around 9:15 PM / Dusk at DCR Pilgrim Memorial State Park.6 Viewing spots include Burial Hill and Nelson Park.7

 

Hertford, NC:

Detailed information for Hertford’s 2025 celebrations is limited, but it’s noted that Hertford usually hosts Fourth of July parades and events. The “AllEvents” website mentions the possibility of 4th of July 2025 cruises in Hertford for fireworks viewing. Last year, the Snug Harbor Property Owners and Civic League hosted a celebration at Snug Harbor Hertford NC. Keep an eye on local Hertford news sources closer to the date for updated information.

 

Elizabeth City, NC:

Elizabeth City is planning an evening of fun, music, and celebration at Mariners’ Wharf Park on Friday, July 4th, from 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM.8

  • First Friday Art Walk: Hosted by Elizabeth City Downtown Inc. at 4:00 PM.
  • Live Music: By 2nd Wynd, with a DJ between sets.
  • Free Axe Throwing: Courtesy of Kinfolk Axe Throwing.
  • 360 Photo Booth and Inflatable Photo Booth: With custom event pictures.
  • Local Breweries: Ghost Harbor and Seven Sounds Brewing will be serving drinks.
  • Inflatable Zone: On the Museum of the Albemarle lawn, including water cannons with the Elizabeth City Fire Department.9
  • Face Painting, Balloon Animals, and Food Trucks.
  • Fireworks: Scheduled to begin between 9:00 PM and 9:15 PM (weather permitting).
